Bosch Dishwasher E24 Error Code Explained

E24 on a Bosch dishwasher is a drain error. Here's how to check the filter and hose yourself before assuming the pump has failed.

E24 shows up on Bosch dishwashers when the machine can't drain water correctly at the end of a cycle. You'll typically notice a small pool of water sitting at the bottom of the tub even after the cycle has finished, or dishes coming out wetter than usual.

Common Reasons for E24

  • A blocked drain hose or clogged filter at the base of the dishwasher
  • A drain pump that has failed or become jammed
  • A kinked drain connection under the kitchen sink where the hose joins your plumbing

Checks You Can Do Safely

Remove and rinse the filter assembly at the bottom of the dishwasher tub - this is usually a twist-and-lift component and doesn't require tools. Food scraps and small debris here are a very common cause of drainage trouble. Then check under your sink where the drain hose connects to your plumbing or garbage disposal for any obvious kinks or pinch points.

If Draining Still Fails

If the filter is clean and the hose under the sink looks fine but E24 persists, the drain pump itself is the likely fault - either jammed by a foreign object or electrically failed. That component sits inside the base of the unit and isn't accessible without partial disassembly.

A clean filter and straight hose rule out the easy causes quickly. If E24 keeps appearing after that, it's a pump issue best left to a technician to open up and inspect.
