Samsung UE Error Code Explained: Unbalanced Load Fix

UE on a Samsung washing machine usually just means an uneven load - but if it keeps coming back with a balanced wash, something else may be wrong.

UE is one of the least alarming codes a Samsung washing machine can show. It stands for 'unbalanced' and appears when the machine detects the load is too concentrated on one side of the drum to spin safely, so it pauses rather than risk stress on the motor and drum bearings.

Why It Happens

  • Laundry has bunched to one side of the drum, especially with a small or mixed load
  • A single bulky item - a heavy towel, blanket or shoes - is spinning off-centre
  • The machine itself isn't sitting level on the floor

How to Clear It

Open the door, manually spread the clothes evenly around the drum, and restart the spin cycle. If it's a single heavy item causing the imbalance, consider washing it with a couple of towels added for balance next time, or on its own with a lower spin speed. Also check that all four feet of the machine are making solid contact with the floor - a machine rocking slightly during spin will trigger UE far more often, even with a well-distributed load.

When It's More Than a Load Problem

If UE shows up consistently even with a small, evenly distributed load and the machine is level, the suspension springs, shock absorbers, or the balance ring inside the drum assembly may be worn. That's a mechanical fault that needs a technician to inspect properly rather than something to keep working around.

A UE code that clears with basic load redistribution isn't something to worry about. If it keeps returning despite balanced, reasonable loads, book an inspection so the suspension and drum components can be checked before they wear further.
